Police warn of credit card scam
The McMinnville Police Department has taken several reports recently on a new telephone scam.
Individuals have received automated robo-calls informing them there is a problem with one of their credit card accounts. They are told to press 1 to reactivate the card. The victim is then prompted to press 1 again and asked to enter their credit card information.
McMinnville police remind residents never to give out credit card information over the phone to unverified sources. Credit card companies will never ask for your full account number over the phone, only security information you have listed on your account specifically for the purpose of confirming your identity.
If you have been a victim of such a fraud, please contact McMinnville police at 503-434-7307
