Pirates host hit parade
COLTON – Sierra Ray pitched a complete-game four-hitter and five Dayton softball players had at least two hits in a 15-2 rout of Colton in Tuesday’s Class 3A West Valley League contest.
Kiley Hill went 3-for-3 with two doubles and three runs batted in for the Pirates (10-1, 5-0 WVL). Cooper Ringnalda went 2-for-2 with a double and four RBI, and Sydney Van Noy went 2-for-5 with three RBI and four runs scored. Van Noy also stole three bases in the contest.
Ray and Cassi Hill also had two hits for Dayton.
The Pirates play at Western Mennonite Monday at 4:30 p.m.
BANKS – The Braves dealt the Tigers their first loss of the season in the Class 4A Cowapa League opener for both teams.
Y-C pitcher Molly Smith absorbed the loss, allowing six hits and three walks, striking out six, in a complete-game performance. Smith also went 2-for-3 from the plate, driving in DeLaney Ogden with an RBI single in the third inning for the Tigers’ only run.
Ogden, Emily Drevdahl, McKenzie Magnuson and Madisyn Babcock each went 1-for-3 on the day.
Yamhill-Carlton (6-1, 0-1 Cowapa) hosts Astoria in a doubleheader today. The first game is slated to begin at 4 p.m., with the second to follow at 5:30 p.m.
SHERIDAN – The Bulldogs shut out the Spartans in Class 3A West Valley League play Tuesday.
Willamina (7-7, 3-1 WVL) hosts Amity today at 5 p.m., while Sheridan (2-8, 0-3 WVL) hosts Gervais today at 5 p.m.
SCAPPOOSE – The Tigers fell to the Indians in Class 4A Cowapa League play Tuesday.
Yamhill-Carlton (2-8, 1-2 Cowapa) hosts Scappoose today at 5 p.m. The Tigers will host Banks on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
COLTON – The Pirates shut out the Vikings in Class 3A West Valley League play.
Dayton (5-5, 4-1 WVL) hosts Horizon Christian today at 5 p.m.
