Perrydale girls take sixth

Damascus Christian won the state championship with a 46-44 win vs. Condon on Saturday.
The Pirates (24-7) finished 3-2 in the state playoffs. They won 71-36 Feb. 20 vs. Lowell in the first round, then defeated Imbler 53-36 in the second round to advance to the final eight in Baker City.
Once in Eastern Oregon, the Pirates lost their first game 34-32 to Condon on Thursday. Perrydale had to rebound from playing the late game to a 10:45 a.m. game Friday vs. McKenzie. The Pirates won 53-33 vs. the Eagles to move on to Saturday’s fourth-sixth place game vs. Triangle Lake. Perrydale had already defeated Triangle Lake once this season — 56-41 on Jan. 28 — but the Lakers took fourth with a 51-45 win.
Perrydale led 27-25 at halftime but trailed 38-37 entering the fourth quarter. In the final period, the Lakers outscored the Pirates 13-8 to finish the comeback. Hannah Mitchell was the player of the game for the Pirates. She scored 21 points and had six rebounds. Ashley Griffin scored nine points and Cheyenne Locke added seven points. Sarah Nelson scored four points and had four assists. Brook Barnes had two points and nine rebounds. Sierra Grimsbo also scored two points for Perrydale.
Perrydale shot 41.9 percent from the field vs. the Lakers but turned the ball over 12 times.
