Off-leash dogs prompt warning

Increasing complaints about off-leash dogs on trails or in other parts of local parks have prompted the department to issue the following reminder:

“Off-leash activities within all McMinnville neighborhood or community park and greenway facilities is prohibited and will result in park exclusions and/or fines.  The Riverside Drive Dog Park provides a safe and legal off-leash alternative for McMinnville residents and their pets.”

Dogs, cats or other domestic pets must be safely contained in a vehicle or on a leash, and kept under physical control at all times, at all parks except the Riverside Drive Dog Park. Well-fenced, it was designed specifically for off-leash activity.

Pets are prohibited entirely in Rotary Nature Preserve Park, Upper City Park, all park playgrounds and all turf and wetland areas at Joe Dancer Park. Not even a leashed presence is permitted.
