McMinnville police investigate property thefts
May 14, 2013
The McMinnville Police Department has investigated multiple reports of residential property thefts in recent weeks.
The property was in plain view or otherwise easily accessible in yards and open garages in many cases.
The thefts seem to be occurring primarily in the afternoon and evenings, according to police.
According to investigations, the suspect, or suspects, are using a vehicle described as a dark-colored pickup truck and may be casing residential areas prior to the thefts.
Stolen items include tools, lawn mowers, rototillers, chainsaws and bicycles.
In many of the cases, the victims were home at the time the property was stolen.
Police urge residents to keep property in locations not easily accessible as well as to be vigilant about suspicious people and vehicles in their neighborhood.
Any suspicious activity should be reported to the police at 503-434-7307 or to the Yamhill Communications Agency non-emergency line at 503-434-6500.
