Mac swimming dominates Glencoe on the road

The McMinnville swimming team blew out Glencoe on the road Thursday. The girls team beat the Crimson Tide 103-46 and the boys team won 98-41 to stay undefeated in dual meets this season.

Molli Hartzell won two individual races for the Grizzlies and helped Mac win two relays Thursday for the girls team. Hartzell won the 200-yard individual medley in 2 minutes, 29.97 seconds, and she also won the 100 butterfly in 1:06.49.

Hartzell, Dakota Buhler, Jessica Noyes and Kellie Gonzalez won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:55.55. Hartzell, Erika Sato, Carlisle Topping and Chloe Zinda also won the 400 free relay.

The Grizzlies picked up 10 points in the 200 medley relay to start the meet. Malia Riggs, Sato, Rebekah Wood and Zinda won in 2:04.11, and Mac also had a team finish third. The Grizzlies then went 1-2-3 in the 200 free with Riggs winning followed by Gonzalez and Topping. Buhler won the 50 free and Zinda finished second, and Topping won the 100 free. Noyes was second in the 500 free, and Faith Elmer was third. After the 200 free relay, Zinda won the 100 backstroke in 1:09.75, and Sato finished second in the breaststroke

In the boys meet, Glencoe won one event — the 100 backstroke — in the 57-point loss to McMinnville. The Grizzlies finished 1-3-4 in the 200 medley relay to start the meet, with the team of Owen Binkerd, Alex Foutch, Max Hayes and Tristan Versteeg won.

Max Justice, Graham Shaw and Elliot Morrison finished 1-2-3 in the 200 free, and Versteeg won the 200 I.M. in 2:06.68. Jesse Kinlon kept the winning going with a win in the 50 free in 24.70.

Binkerd won the 100 butterfly and Julian Perpelitt finished second. Shaw then won the 100 free, and Justice was second in 58.12. Max Hayes won the 500 free in 5:45.84.

Mac took the top two spots in the 200 relay. Versteeg, Kinlon, Foutch and Sam Swenson won in 1:38.17, and Perpelitt, Zach Kizer, Morrison and Swenson were second in 1:45.32.

Glencoe broke Mac’s winning streak with a win in the 100 backstroke, but the Grizzlies went 1-2 in the 100 breaststroke. Versteeg won in 1:08.77, and Devin Frost was second in 1:18.71.

The Grizzlies capped off the win with a 1-2 finish in the 400 free relay. Binkerd, Morrison, Justice and Ryan Coleman won in 3:50.48, and Ehren Cahill, Hayes, Kinlon and Shaw were second in 3:51.41.

The McMinnville swimming teams are back in the pool at 3:45 p.m. Thursday at Hillsboro.
