Garnering a fourth career complete-game shutout has amounted to Northwest Conference Baseball Student-Athlete of the Week honors for Chris Haddeland as announced Monday following a vote of the league's sports information directors. Meanwhile, teammate Jake Wylie achieved Team of the Week acclaim after smacking three home runs as top-ranked Linfield swept Pacific Lutheran by a combined score of 16-2.

Haddeland, a junior from McMinnville, threw a 114-pitch complete-game shutout, scattering just five hits across nine innings, to lead Linfield to a 3-0 victory in Game 1 of an important NWC series. He struck out five Lutes en route to his third complete game of the season and 11th of his career, lowering his season ERA to a conference-leading 1.06 with a 7-0 record in nine starts.

Wylie, a senior from Eagle, Idaho completed his comeback from an early-season injury with three home runs and five RBI en route to a 1.364 slugging percentage. The senior batted .455 (5-for-11) as the designated hitter in Game 1 before registering a defensively perfect weekend in his first two games behind the plate since mid-February. On the year, Wylie is hitting .349 with four home runs, seven doubles and 14 RBI.

This is the fourth career conference weekly award for Haddeland, and the second national team of the week honor for Wylie. Both were named first team All-Americans after last season's national championship run.

Winners of 12 straight contests, the Wildcats ran their season record to 24-3, including 17-1 against conference opponents. Linfield was listed as the No. 1 club in both national polls – and the American Baseball Coaches Association – and stretched its lead over second-place George Fox to four games.

Linfield plays host to Pomona-Pitzer in a three-game nonconference series beginning Saturday at noon.
