Grizzlies shut out Forest Grove

FOREST GROVE – David Brosius, Travis Allen, and Ryan Dix combined on a two-hitter as the McMinnville baseball team knocked off Forest Grove, 6-0, in Friday’s Class 6A Pacific Conference road game.

Jacob Bannister went 2-for-3 with a triple and Cameron Fox went 2-for-3 with a double for the Grizzlies (12-2, 5-1 Pacific.) McMinnville scored its first run in the fifth inning, when Kade Mechals’ sacrifice fly scored Fox, followed by five runs in the sixth inning.

Brosius struck out seven and allowed one hit in five innings pitched to receive the win on the mound, while Allen and Dix each pitched one inning.

The Grizzlies host Glencoe today at 4:30 p.m. and play the Crimson Tide Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. in Hillsboro.

Willamina 4, Amity 1

WILLAMINA – A four-run second inning spurred the Bulldogs on to victory over the Warriors in Class 3A West Valley League play.

Dylan Blakley threw a complete-game two-hitter, walking five and striking out eight, for Willamina (4-9, 3-2 WVL). Brady Baughman allowed four hits and struck out six in a complete-game loss for Amity (4-10, 2-3 WVL).

The Bulldogs play Horizon Christian today at 5 p.m. in Tualatin. The Warriors play Gervais today at 5 p.m. in Amity.


Horizon Christian 11, Dayton 4

DAYTON – Caleb Letney went 3-for-3 with two doubles and two runs, but the Pirates fell to the Hawks in Class 3A West Valley League play Friday.

Dayton (5-7, 4-2 WVL) played Scio Monday. The Pirates play at Sheridan Friday at 5 p.m.


Gervais 9, Sheridan 6

SHERIDAN – Chad Jordan went 3-for-3 with two RBI and Cody Herron went 2-for-4 with three runs scored, but seven errors cost the Spartans in a Class 3A West Valley League loss to the Cougars Friday night.

Sheridan (4-9, 0-5 WVL) plays at Colton today at 5 p.m.


Scappoose 7, Yamhill-Carlton 6

YAMHILL – The Tigers fell to the Indians in Class 4A Cowapa League play Friday. Yamhill-Carlton (2-9, 1-3 Cowapa) hosts Banks today at 5 p.m., then plays at Banks Wednesday at 5 p.m.

YAMHILL – Molly Smith had five hits and five RBI, including two home runs, and pitched a complete-game one-hitter in the first game of the Tigers’ doubleheader sweep of the Fishermen on Friday.

Emily Drevdahl threw a complete-game four hitter in the second game, going 3-for-3 with two RBI and a triple. Ember Armstrong had four hits and four RBI over the two games.

Yamhill-Carlton (8-1, 2-1 Cowapa) plays at Tillamook today at 5 p.m.


Willamina 7, Amity 2

WILLAMINA – The Bulldogs defeated the Warriors in Class 3A West Valley League play Friday. Willamina (8-7, 4-1 WVL) played Salem Academy Monday and hosts Colton Friday at 5 p.m., while Amity (3-6, 1-3 WVL) plays Gervais tonight at 5 p.m. in Amity.


Sheridan 13, Gervais 3

SHERIDAN – The Spartans defeated the Cougars in Class 3A West Valley League play. Sheridan (4-8, 1-3 WVL) plays at Colton today at 5 p.m.
