Grant to fund sidewalk repair

The target stretch is in very poor condition, said City Recorder Sue Hollis. Water pools up there and pedestrians sometimes fall or trip.
The city’s 2012-13 budget does not include the grant funds because they were not anticipated at the time. However, Oregon budget law has a provision covering that.
In other business last week, the council:
n Approved allocation of $2,500 to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Cooperative Field Services unit for coyote trapping services and $6,000 to Boldt, Carlisle & Smith for auditing services.
n Created the position of honorary councilor and named Willamina High School student Mariah Woodward to the position.
The council will next meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 9.
