Dundee to hold special meeting
Homeowner Josh Vorderstrasse is appealing a refusal by City Administer Rob Daykin for repair of the lateral serving his residence.
Vorderstrasse said he has a buyer for the house, but an inspection revealed a sewer line problem and the buyer doesn’t want to proceed until it’s addressed. He said local code makes the city responsible for problems on city property, and this one qualifies.
The inspection showed the line has developed some weak spots that will eventually spring leaks, Vorderstrasse said. But he said Daykin told him the city would not undertake repairs until a leak actually occurred.
“Waiting for a sewage backup into our house to declare a ‘problem’ is not reasonable or acceptable,” he told the council in a letter presenting his perspective on the issue.
