Dayton approves testing agreement
The city will pay A-1 Backflow to perform the tests, which are required annually for residents with in-ground sprinklers and some other types of add-on systems. It will seek reimbursement by tacking the cost onto their household water bills.
The council also awarded contracts for improvements to the Blockhouse Park fountain and several local streets.
The Miller Fountain Renovation Project is set to start this spring. The fountain will be cleaned and refurbished.
In addition, the city plans to fill potholes and conduct other repairs to deteriorating portions of Flower Lane and Oak, Eighth and Mill streets.
However, the council postponed award of a contract for improvements at Eleventh Street Park. It plans to revisit the issue at a work session set for Monday, March 18.
The council conducted the first reading on a proposed franchise agreement with Portland General Electric. Second reading and approval is expected when the council meets in regular session on Monday, April 1.
