Committee to address YCOM issues
The appointive body, chaired by Carlton Police Chief Kevin Martinez, has been tasked with analyzing an operational assessment commissioned by the agency’s board of directors.
“We have the ability, the expertise and knowledge to really put a strategic plan in place that is feasible and will ensure the sustainability of YCOM,” Martinez said. “The report gives us insight into the magnitude of what we’re looking at.
“This is not a simple fix. It’s really at the point where we need to take care of business right now and get a system in place that’s going to be there for an extended period of time.”
Martinez said the committees charge is coming to a collective vision for “what is best for YCOM, its user groups and the citizens making the call for help.”
The roster includes McMinnville Police Chief Ron Noble, McMinnville Fire Chief Rich Leipfert, YCOM Director Janis Cameron, Yamhill County Sheriff’s Capt. Tim Svenson, local businessman Waldo Farnham, retired sheriff Lee Vasquez, County Information Systems Director Murray Paolo, Amity Fire Chief Bruce Hubbard, and Dayton Fire District Lt. John Tish.
