TUALATIN – Down go the Timberwolves, for the first time in four seasons.
The McMinnville girls tennis team won three of the four doubles matches to defeat Class 6A Pacific Conference foe Tualatin, 5-3, for the Timberwolves’ first team defeat in a regular-season match since 2010.
Caitlan Baker at No. 1 singles and Shay Bristow at No. 3 singles delivered wins for the Grizzlies, with Baker defeating Tualatin’s Sarah Lemieux, 6-4, 6-4, and Bristow besting Audrey DePaepe of the Timberwolves, 6-3, 6-2.
Mac’s No. 2 doubles team of Nayelly Cervera and Kerigan Morton delivered a victory in the only three-set match of the evening, defeating Alisha Inicens and Maddy Meade of Tualatin, 7-5, 2-6, 6-1. The No. 3 doubles team of Ellie Solem and Lauren Ulvang (6-3, 7-6) and the No. 4 doubles team of Julia Jacobucci and Veronica Marquez (6-3, 6-4) also pulled out victories over their respective opponents.
McMinnville (6-0, 5-0 Pacific Conference) hosts Century on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

HILLSBORO – The Grizzlies never dropped a set against the Spartans, winning seven of the 16 contested by a 6-0 score to bolster their record in Class 6A Pacific Conference play Monday.

Daniel Post’s win at No. 2 singles was the only one for the McMinnville boys tennis team in a Class 6A Pacific Conference defeat at the hands of Tualatin Tuesday night at the Cowls Street tennis courts.
Post defeated Mitchell King of Tualatin, 7-5, 6-1.
The Grizzlies (3-3, 2-3 Pacific) play at Century on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
