Bicyclist struck on Hill Road

A Corvallis bicyclist was struck about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday by a tractor-trailer rig on Northwest Hill Road near Horizon Drive.
Capt. Dennis Marks of the McMinnville police identified the victim as Richard Barnett, 67. He was transported by McMinnville Fire Department ambulance to the Willamette Valley Medical Center and transferred by Life Flight helicopter to Oregon Health & Science University. He is listed in serious condition
Police gave this account:
Barnett was riding southbound on the west shoulder of Hill Road. Kasey Kauer, 33, of Amity, was southbound operating a 1993 Freightliner pulling an agricultural spray rig secured to the deck.
The trailered spray rig collided with Barnett as the tractor-trailer passed by him. The bicyclist was wearing a helmet which was split by the impact.
No citations were issued. The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information should contact officer Steve Macartney at 503-434-7307.
