Mac Parks and Rec hosts adult coed sports

Get active this fall! Registration is open for Coed Volleyball and Coed Soccer (5-on-5). 

Both leagues are open to adults over 18. Volleyball games are played at Duniway Middle School on Monday and Wednesday evenings. Soccer games are played at Joe Dancer Park on Sunday afternoons.

Registration deadlines are Sept. 5 for coed soccer and Sept. 9 for coed volleyball.


Dewey Sullivan Classic on tap Sept. 12

The 10th annual Dewey Sullivan Classic Dinner and Auction will be held Saturday, Sept. 12, at Stoller Vineyard outside Dayton.

Registration will begin at 6 p.m., with dinner served at 7 p.m. Cost is $20 per person.

Mac Parks and Rec hosts clinic/cleat swap

McMinnville Parks and Recreation will host a free soccer clinic and cleat swap Saturday, Sept. 12, at Joe Dancer Park.

Those with old cleats to exchange can drop them off at the McMinnville Community Center, and those in need of new cleats can pick up a pair starting at 11:30 a.m., on Sept. 12., with the clinic starting at noon. New cleats for those without a pair to exchange are $5.

Local rugby clubs holding registration

Registration for the West Valley Panthers Rugby Club’s fall sevens for high school boys and girls is now open.

Backwards Open

commences Sept. 27

Yamhill County Special Olympics will host the 16th Annual Backwards Open golf tournament at Bayou Golf Course on Sunday, Sept. 27, with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Registration for the scramble format tournament costs $35 and includes lunch at The Mac Club following the event.

Register by calling The Mac Club at 503-435-1012 or at the course at 503-472-4651. Interested parties can sponsor a hole for $25 and participants who bring two cans of food to the tournament will receive a free raffle ticket.

Dewey Sullivan Classic on tap Sept. 12

The McMinnville Education Foundation is hosting its annual Runtoberfest 10K run, 5K walk/run and 1-mile kids’ run Saturday, Oct. 3, at 7:30 a.m. The start and finish line of the event is at Wortman Stadium, on the McMinnville High School campus.
