Salem man charged with DUII, manslaughter


SALEM — A Salem man accused of causing a crash that killed a woman has been charged with second-degree manslaughter and driving under the influence.

The Statesman Journal reports ( ) 41-year-old Wesley Hastings appeared in court Monday. Marion County Circuit Judge Janet Klapstein ordered that no bail be set for Hastings.

According to the Marion County Sheriff's Office, Hastings had been driving an SUV on June 19 when the vehicle veered off the road and rolled over. Twenty-seven-year-old Sabrina Guerra, of Salem, had been in the passenger seat. She was ejected from the vehicle and died instantly.

Court documents indicate Hastings had a blood alcohol level that was over the legal limit.

Hastings is scheduled to appear for a plea hearing July 8.
