Fire damages Salishan lodge at Oregon coast

GLENEDEN BEACH - Officials say an early-morning fire damaged the lodge roof and interior at Salishan Spa and Golf Resort on the Oregon coast.

The Oregonian reports that Depoe Bay Fire District crews responded early Wednesday morning after a night manager at the lodge discovered the fire and called 911.

Resort General Manager Todd Cooley says the fire broke out around the chimney near the ceiling of the two-story building, activating an alarm and sprinkler that sent water into the lobby. He said Wednesday evening that the majority of the damage came from water but added things are “almost back to normal.”

Cooley says damage to the 50-year-old structure was perhaps $150,000 to $200,000.

No injuries were reported and no guests were evacuated. Cooley says the lodge is one of about 20 buildings on the 250-acre property at Gleneden Beach in Lincoln County.
