McIrvin named McMinnville football coach

In the end, McMinnville athletic director Mark Hinthorn did not have to travel far to find the Grizzlies' newest football coach.

Ryan McIrvin had been there all along.

McIrvin, a 15-year assistant with the McMinnville football program, was named head coach on Wednesday, succeeding Robin Hill, who resigned the position after two seasons. McIrvin, who was Hill's defensive coordinator in 2013 and 2014, is the program's fifth head coach in the past seven seasons.

McIrvin is also the Grizzlies' junior varsity boys basketball coach and a member of the McMinnville Youth Football board of directors. He teaches social studies at McMinnville High School.
