Amity names Magill head football coach

Amity High School announced that football offensive coordinator Joel Magill would assume the head coaching position with the Warriors, a position he held from 2002-04 and 2008-10, according to a media release from athletic director Reg McShane.

Justin Amaya held the Amity head coaching position in 2014 but has resigned, according to a release from the school. It is unclear if Amaya will continue to work with the football team in some capacity. (Amaya is also Amity's boys basketball coach and the head boys tennis coach at West Salem High School.)

Magill, also a social studies teacher at Amity High School, had assisted the Warriors from 1998-01 and again in 2014 as offensive coordinator. Under Magill, Amity won football state championships in 2003 and 2009.

The 2014 Warriors finished 5-4 overall (3-3 Class 3A West Valley League) but did not qualify for the Class 3A state playoffs.
