Willamina volleyball coach Zimbrick resigns

The News-Register

Longtime Willamina volleyball coach Carrie Zimbrick has resigned from the position.

Zimbrick had assumed the head coaching position since 2001 and had been involved with the Bulldogs’ program for 23 seasons. Her resignation occurred after she accepted the position of Willamina School District superintendent; she had previously served as the principal of Willamina Elementary School.

Under Zimbrick, the Bulldogs won outright or claimed a share of five league championships. Willamina went 56-0 in Class 3A West Valley League play from 2010 to 2013. The Bulldogs were Class 2A runners-up in 2005 and Class 3A runners-up in 2011.

Zimbrick played volleyball at Sheridan High School and spent three seasons with the University of Oregon volleyball team.

Brent Murrell, Zimbrick’s assistant coach and a Willamina girls basketball assistant, is expected to garner consideration for the head volleyball position.
