Police kill armed woman in Beaverton

BEAVERTON — Police killed a woman in Beaverton when she pointed a rifle at officers.

Police say they had responded to a call Thursday afternoon from the woman's boyfriend. He said she was suicidal and had threatened him so he left the house.

A police negotiator tried to defuse the situation. Over the course of an hour the woman left the house with a rifle several times but returned inside.

Police say when she came out and pointed the rifle at officers they fired to defend themselves. She died at the scene.
