Carlton water to be shut off tonight

The shutoff, designed to allow a crew to work on the main line, is expected to last four to six hours.

Some users may still have water for a time, as gravity-fed lines continue to move water that’s already reached the city. However, the flow will eventually stop.

Residents are being asked to use water sparingly tonight, or to draw enough before the shutoff to supply their needs during the outage.

The flow should be restored by the time most residents awaken.

In some cases, city officials said, water may initially show some discoloration. In that event, they advise running the tap until it clears.
