Two dead, two injured in crash west of Carlton
CARLTON - A McMinnville man and Carlton woman were killed Wednesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash west of Carlton at the intersection of Meadowlake and Westside roads.
The Yamhill County Sheriff's Office identified the victims as Jacob Ryan Coshow and Shantel Louise Fugere, both 21. They were pronounced dead at the scene of the 5:30 p.m. crash.
Coshow was driving a 1996 Mazda Miata. Fugere was his passenger. A 2004 Jeep Cherokee was occupied by two unidentified McMinnville juveniles. They were transported by McMinnville Fire Department ambulance to the Willamette Valley Medical Center with minor injuries.
The vehicles collided at the intersection which is a controlled four-way stop. The Multi-Agency Traffic Team is investigating the crash, and until a reconstruction has been completed, Sheriff's Capt. Brandon Bowdle said further details regarding how the crash occurred will not be released.
"It is in times like this that I recognize the close knit community we have in our county," Sheriff Tim Svenson said. "Our hearts go out to the involved parties and their families. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers."
