From the article, "...Commissioners also held a final public hearing on the 2022-23 county budget, before they approve it on June 30.

Only one person testified. Farmer and extension service board member Heller Rudenklau asked commissioners to provide $10,000 in funding to restore an extension service program that conducts research for farmers in the north Willamette Valley. Rudenklau told commissioners the program provides invaluable information that farmers rely on...."

*The Yamhill County Commissioners have 'Voting seats' on the Extension Service Board of Directors. What is troubling to me; taxpayer monies, from Yamhill County property taxes are used in a variety of ways by the OSU Extension Service that do not benefit Yamhill County taxpayers.

**Yamhill County is considered an 'Urban County'.

***Why should Yamhill County taxpayers be charged $10K for services to benefit others receiving nothing in return?

***The OSU Extension Service budget should be questioned and thoroughly analyzed as if salaries and overheads are allocated to an expanded program containing redundant systems of service.

Check-out the OSU Northwest Willamette Research Extension Center where the $10K is going to (if allocated).

It is interesting to see how OSU Extension Services expand and who pays for the expansions.
