Those two. :( hahaha

Queen Mary and Princess Lindsey have spoken. They expect the rest of us to accept their decrees without question. Apparently, the County's money is theirs to do with as they please.

The circus continues. The voters had their chance to fix this and chose not to - so we continue with the circus..........think about this, develop a criteria, form a committee to make recommendations based upon that criteria, then scrap the whole thing because these two want to do it differently. What an incredible waste! Then Berschauer has the audacity to say "I think we need a little bit of expediency in getting these dollars out the door". Umm, they've been sitting on those dollars for months on end - too busy photo oping on street corners to get the job done I guess.

Things like this are why the recall campaign happened. Those two together make unilateral decisions. Stndard playbook of the present conservative party. Don't like the results after setting the rules, change the rules. And don't be surprised if this generates a lawsuit and cost the county money.

I serve on a grant board with OHSU as a patient advocate. Criteria are set up and adhered to for a reason.

Coming from these two, this action makes perfect sense.

Why honor rules and tradition when you think you need to re-boot the system?

They will go against everything that was done in the past since those actions led us to the present.

The lesson here is that Yamhill County was in much worse shape than most people thought. The fact that these two could be voted into office in the first place is proves it. You get the politicians you deserve.

Personal Judgement - Euphemism for corruption

When the rules prevent them from handing out money to their buddies, it looks like Starrett and Berschauer would rather eliminate all the rules. This is not how out county should be run.

In my opinion, the entire allocation of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) FUNDS should have been reserved for infrastructure needs for the jurisdictions in Yamhill County.

In addition to the menu of infrastructure needs there are several cities requiring; potable water infrastructure upgrades, sewage treatment plant upgrades, and Storm Water Management infrastructure. When infrastructure needs appear-"FEE INCREASES to Utility Bills" will follow.

'ARPA FUNDS' are once-in a lifetime gift from the Federal Government increasing our national indebtedness to $31.5Trillion dollars and is said to have ignited 'inflationary' aspects throughout our economy.

From the article, "... Commissioners did vote to make one nonprofit award, however, at Starrett’s urging, without specifying exactly which of its ARPA categories it will come from. They agreed to award $500,000 to the Yamhill County Housing Authority for its Stratus Village project, intended to provide 175 affording housing rental units in McMinnville.

The Housing Authority has until April 22 to submit a larger grant application, and Starrett said a commitment of local dollars enhances its chances.."

Just the kind of thing that inspires everyone to run out and get involved by serving on a governmental advisory aboard. Citizens volunteer their time and energy toward a public good, then we pay these two clowns $79K+ a year to crap on them.
