Paul, are you sure it was Judge Tichenor? I thought he retired about 25 years ago??

sbagwell

Tichenor continues to fill in, as do many other retired judges, from this county and others. It's a very common practice all around the state. It is highly cost-effective, as it reduces the number of expensive full-time judges needed to fully staff the system.

Judge Tichenor is a "Plan B" retiree. The state enhances the pension of a retired judge in exchange for 175 days of service over a five-year period. They can work in the counties of their choice. Recently retired Judge Ronald Stone will do some "Plan B" work in Eastern Oregon.

Good to know! Thanks.

Lulu

Tichenor should have retired permanently many years ago. Any ruling he makes at his advanced age could, and should, be scrutinized.
