"the officers “have suffered and continue to suffer anxiety, emotional distress, a sense of helplessness, loss of control, personal violation, emotional upset, anger, humiliation, embarrassment, fear, loss of reputation and a heightened sense of vulnerability.”"
How can you be an Officer with these conditions? This seems like theatrics for a lawsuit.

Ridiculous. What a bunch of whiney crybabies. They both need to grow a pair.

I think these officers should step down until this is over. The last thing the public needs is a peace officer on the street that is not mentally there.

I often think the only form for accountability we have at times comes through courts and civil decisions. We certainly don't see it when officers commit acts that injure others, rarely are they convicted for them. Instead, they have some manipulated form of review, that later can only be served in facts from Court. Wrongful convictions is another example..
But it does not stop at police officers. Preventing life, liberty, and property is a "Civil" offense. Taking life, liberty, and property is a "Criminal" offense. They can run simultaneously.
I believe we need things like this to understand "Consequence" of behavior. If thoughts=feelings=behavior and people are not "wise" enough to understand their behavior on others, than perhaps consequence will make them reconsider that (Franklin Reality model). If not they will always be "Victim" and continue their behavior regardless of the harm it causes.

they should get $1 for every bullet that hit the suspect! HAHAHAHAHHA!!

Good for them. Perhaps if Mr. Cashman is held more responsible for his actions, he will be less likely to repeat this sick behavior.

A quick google search on Mr. Cashman will show that this isn't his first run in with the law and therefore, likely not his last.

Shouldn't this be work comp?

I believe "suffer anxiety, emotional distress, a sense of helplessness, loss of control, personal violation, emotional upset, anger, humiliation, embarrassment, fear, loss of reputation and a heightened sense of vulnerability” is pretty much part of the job they signed up for. Seeing that they are not fit for patrol, they should either be furloughed or given a desk job away from the public. The last thing we need is these two armed and interacting with us!

Sending my support to the officers involved, that was a terrible situation. The public clearly does not understand the long-term consequences that an event like this causes for first responders. Thank you for your service and bravery.

I support both of these officers. They are both great human beings and very professional police officers. It is really too bad that when people expose their human side, they are met with such disgusting response.
