Pedestrian struck by vehicle
A McMinnville man was struck by a vehicle about 11 a.m. Tuesday at Northeast Third and Adams streets.
McMinnville police identified him as Israel Sanchez Jr., a 49-year-old transient. They said he was transported to the Willamette Valley Medical Center by McMinnville Fire Department ambulance for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening.
Capt. Dennis Marks gave this account:
Traffic headed southbound on Adams had stopped to let Sanchez cross between First Federal and the library.
Sarah Freeborn, 33, of Newberg, began to make a left turn onto Adams from Third Street when she struck him in her Toyota RAV4. She was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device.
“There was poor visibility because of the weather and he was not wearing bright clothing,” Marks said. “The conditions played a part in this.”
