We have big problems right now with infrastructure that needs to be fixed and a homeless population that needs to be dealt with in some way. Why waste taxpayers money on this project right now when there is no budget or master plan? Besides those two “minor problems” the farmers are in the right here and should be respected for what they do.

Tuvey

I believe it says that a State Grant, not taxpayers money is being used for the bridges.

Jim

Tuvey where do think most grant money comes? There is private money out there but most of the money is taxpayer generated. The state has no other source of revenue they don’t own a business just taxpayers.

Lets get this great project under way, it's a multi-use trail system that gets families off of congested roads for safe outdoor activities. Sorry some local land owners thought it belonged to them but it doesn't.

vanfarm

rosebloomer, how do you propose the trail users get to Yamhill after this trail dumps them at the bus barn? HWY 240 into Yamhill has no shoulders and a very narrow bridge. That's what you call "safe outdoor activities." There will be no parking at the bus barn, as stated per the county.

Stella

What a joke. LUBA says no to this project when it was appealed but our Commissioners decide to build the bridges while the entire process starts over "hoping" for approval? The bridges are being built to "save" the grant $ from being taken away.

How much has this process already cost us? without approval? With a denial we march on spending $ that benefits the wine industry.

Talk about putting the cart before the horse... pathetic.

Btw. No public comment on the matter allowed at today's public meeting? Only in Yamhill County....

Stella

PS. Today's meeting is not noticed on County's website yet... less than 3 hours to Formal Session. I guess the law requiring 24 hour notice doesn't apply to us either
