Wolfgang Sailler -- The US is a federal republic form of government (recite the pledge to discover). A democracy is an ideology used to guide how a government is run.

Just for fun, look up how many normal daily purchases and license applications 'require ID' (prove you are who you say you are) -- and then explain why it should be any different during elections.
