I learned almost the hard way to not use an ATM during a storm like we had Monday evening. I had put my card in and was preparing to enter my security code when the power went out. Everything went black up there by Fred Meyers and my card was still in the machine, which was not willing to release it. After a couple of "What the ...?!" a generator kicked in and some lights came back on and my card popped out of the ATM. It was then that I remembered the advice to not panic as your card will kick back out. Panic aside, I got my card back and headed home to wait out the storm, thankful that it wasn't worse.
