'Pheonix, Oregon' Is anyone at the NR ever embarrassed by the number of misspellings and typos in this paper?

Ossie Bladine

Corrected.

It was correct in the paper, misspelled online in header.

As for misspellings overall, 'embarrassed?' No. Frustrated, at times. We're our own toughest critics. Of course we strive for perfection of spelling and grammar. But it's worth noting that each issue of the paper includes 15,000 - 20,000 words in stories/headlines/cutlines and so on; many of which written, edited, placed and re-edited on a tight deadline.

The comments of "can I buy you a copy editor" or "can I come edit for you" always make me smirk. Reading the paper casually in print or on your computer is much different than reading/editing/processing on deadline. Again, errors frustrate us, so definitely not trying to make excuses. But a few here and there out of tens of thousands ain't too bad, right?
