Interesting story and a great write up. Thanks Paul for including all of those details... it really makes me stop and think more deeply about why people commit crimes and how our legal system responds.


Oh phooey. Apparently, the Portland judge is as obtuse as ours in Yamhill County. Note how this joker was on probation for an earlier Polk County robbery. Sure, let him out. Let them all out.


Robbing a bank is never okay, but this story makes me curious to know the rest of the story. Was his daughter really denied entrance to the college or was that just a handy excuse for committing a crime?
