Cancellations and closures

 

The following events have been canceled or postponed, and services or places closed due to efforts to stop the potential spread of coronavirus:

Local Places and Services Closed:

* Valley Commissary until further notice.

* El Primo Mexican restaurant for at least two weeks.

* Head Start of Yamhill County closed, but Home visitors and teachers will be contacting families by April 3. Call 503-472-2000 with concerns.

 * Spirit Mountain Casino, closed through April 9.

* Miller Woods.

* Walnut City bowling alley.

* McMinnville Cinema 10.

* McMinnville Habitat ReStore.

 * McMinnville city services: Senior Center; Recreational sports programs, including youth soccer; McMinnville Aquatic Center; McMinnville Public Library.

  * Lafayette Community Center and Joel Perkins Park restrooms.

 * Many winery tasting rooms, including Coeur de Terre, Hyland Estates and Domaine Serene's "Clubhouse and Wine Lounges."

 * First Federal branch lobbies; drive-up windows remain open, along with ATMs.

 * Schools. K-12 public schools through at least the end of April. McMinnville School District teachers will begin contacting students April 1 to offer educational support.

* Chemeketa in-person activities.

* Kids on the Block after school programs also are not operating.

 * Willamina city facilities.

 *  The Lawrence Gallery is closed, but art purchases are available through its website.

  * 4 Elements Yoga classes until further notice.

 * Mes Amies clothing and accessory store in McMinnville.

 * Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum, McMinnville, all buildings are closed through mid-April.

 * The Moonlight Theater in 3rd Street Pizza.

 

  Local Open, but closed to in-person public access:

* The Yamhill Soil & Water Conservation District is closed to the public, but messages may be left at 503-472-6403 or info@yamhillswcd.org, or messages for executive director Larry Ojua can be left at at 503-376-7609 or larry.ojua@or.nacdnet.net. For more information, go to www.yamhillswcd.org.

 * Yamhill County Clerk's Office is close to the public, but workers are continuing to process marriage licenses, passport applications and voter registration, as well as recording documents. Appointments are available, as well. Call 503-434-7518 or send  email to clerk@co.yamhill.or.us.

 * City halls are closed to pubic, but employees are working, in most cases. Amity -- 503-835-3711. Dayton -- 503-864-2211.  * McMinnville Area Chamber of Commerce office is closed, but people can call 503-472-6196 or send email to chamberinfo@mcminnville.org.

 * Yamhill County Assessment and Tax office, available by phone at 503-434-7521, or by email at assessor@co.yamhill.or.us.

 * Housing Authority of Yamhill County offices closed, but staff available by phone, 503-883-4300, or  by fax, at 503-472-4376.

 * Yamhill County Sheriff's Office and other law enforcement offices. Call 911 in an emergency.

 * Yamhill County Planning Department. Permits, inspections an land use applications still will be proessed; call 503-434-7516 or email planning@co.yamhill.or.us.

 * Hagan-Hamilton Insurance office closed, but staff can be reached at 1-800-745-2165 or insurance@haganhamilton.com.

 

Local Events Canceled:

* McMinnville City Club's April meeting canceled.

* Newberg Camillia Festival.

* Amity Easter Egg Hunt, but Amity Fire Department will deliver eggs to 40 local yards; sign up via the department's Facebook page.

* McMinnville Lions Club Easter Egg hunt, but Lions promise they will be back next year with an egg hunt Saturday, April 3, 2021.

* Carlton Easter Egg hunt, which had been planned for April 11.

* Earth Day at Miller Woods, which had been scheduled for April 25.

* The Native Plant Society annual state meeting, which had been planned for the first weekend in May.

 * Penguin Productions' "The Misanthrope," which had been slated for April 4.

* The Lafayette Easter Egg hunt, which would have been held April 11.

 * The 2020 Distinguished Service Awards banquet.

* McMinnville Band of Brothers veterans' meeting canceled; had been scheduled for April 2.

* McMinnville Kiwanis Club meetings cancelled through April.

* Master Gardeners' annual plant sale, which had been scheduled for May 2-3.

 * AARP tax aide appointments, such as those offered at the McMinnville Public Library and McMinnville Senior Center. 

* McMinnville Area Chamber of Commerce events, such as Greeters, Business After Hours, Women in Business and Connect at Lunch for the time being.

 

 Local Events Postponed:

* Gallery Theater's "Proof" -- new dates will be announced later.

* McMinnville's second Recycled Arts Festival, rescheduled for the weekend of Oct. 16 instead of mid-April.

* Lemonade Day, which had been planned for early May.

* McMinnville Municipal Court, appearances postponed until May 6. Jury panels suspended. Payments may be mailed to Municipal Court, 230 N.E. Second St., McMinnville, OR 97128.

* Newberg Municipal Court dates will be rescheduled. Call 503-537-1241 for more information.

 

Local Changed:

* Safeway and Albertsons will open at 7 a.m., an hour later than before. Senior/immune compromised hours are 7 to 9 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

* The Soup Kitchen @ St. Barnabas will offer take-out only from 4 to 6 p.m. weekdays, with no seating in the dining room.

* Willamette Valley Medical Center has closed its door to all visitors until further notice. The announcement noted: "We recognize that there are times when having a visitor or family member present is crucial and we will work to accommodate these exceptions."

* Linfield College will move to online learning when it reopens March 31.

 

Prohibited by order of Gov. Kate Brown:

 

* All events and gatherings larger than 25 people -- excepting essential locations like workplaces, grocery stores, pharmacies and retail stores.

 

n Bars and restaurant dining rooms; service limited to takeout and delivery only. Food service will continue at health care facilities, workplaces and other essential facilities.

 

* The state Capitol is closed until further notice.

 

 

 

Recommended by Gov. Kate Brown

 

*  Avoid gatherings of 10 or more people.

 

*  All business assess practices of social distancing, and close doors temporarily if they cannot put new guidance in place.
