Mac City Club wraps up season with U.S. Rep. Earl Blumenauer
Jun 2, 2014
(News-Register staff) An advocate for marijuana regulation reform, Rep. Earl Blumenauer will lecture on the marijuana debate Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. The event is the McMinnville City Club's final program for the season and will be held in the McMinnville Grand Ballroom, 323 NE Third Street.
As a state legislator, Congressman Blumenauer supported the Oregon Decriminalization Bill of 1973, which abolished criminal penalties for possession of small amounts of marijuana. Since being elected to Congress, he has been a strong advocate for rationalizing federal drug laws.
Blumenauer will speak on the failures of current federal marijuana policies and his legislative efforts to protect medical marijuana patients, allow the federal government to tax and regulate marijuana, and normalize taxes and banking for marijuana businesses in states where it is legal.
Cost for lunch is $13 for members and $18 for non-members. RSVP by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 971-237-4750.
