The Yamhill County Interagency Narcotics Team served two search warrants this week and took a McMinnville man into custody.
Tyler Thomas Stuck, 25, of 1620 S.E. Kent St., McMinnville, was charged with one count each of delivery and possession of a controlled substance/heroin within 1,000 feet of a school, felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance/methamphetamine. He was also in violation of his probation. Stuck was booked into the Yamhill County Jail without bail.
At about 2 p.m. Monday, search warrants were served at the Kent Street address and on Delashmutt Lane. The drug team was investigating reports of heroin being delivered in the county. Probable cause was developed to indicate drug sales were occuring at those locations.
The search warrants turned up abouut two ounces of heroin, a small quantity of meth, handguns and evidence of the delivery of heroin.
Sheriff Jack Crabtree said the drug seizure should serve as a reminder that heoin has gotten a foothold in the community.
"Now more than ever it is imperative that parents be cognizant of what their children are doing with prescription narcotic analgesic medications," he said. "Their recreational use can often led to an addiction that eventually turns to heroin use for the opiate high."
Anyone with information about this case or suspected illegal drug activity should contact sheriff's office Sgt. Chris Ray at 503-434-7506.
