(News-Register Staff) Eleven-year-old McMinnville resident Jordan Bailey sang in front of about 20,000 people Wednesday night, performing the national anthem with violinist Aaron Meyer and guitarist Tim Ellis before a Portland Trail Blazer game at the Moda Center.
KGW featured the performance during its 11 p.m. newscast.
“It’s amazing,” Bailey told KGW after the rehearsal. “I never thought I’d be doing something like this.”
Bailey is a sixth-grader at Duniway Middle School. Her parents, Wayne and Nicolette, are the owners of Youngberg Hill Vineyards and Inn.
She has performed at several venues around town and been cast in several Gallery Theater plays, including “Wiz,” “Seussical” and “Narnia.” Bailey won the Best Debut Performance award for her part in "Narnia." Bailey was previously featured in a News-Register article two years ago as part of school district’s annual choral festival.
“I want to be a singer. I love singing. It’s my life,” Bailey told reporter Starla Pointer.
Wednesday’s performance at the Moda Center was just one more step towards her dream.
