Like Dragging the Gut, but with a Chicken Tractor

Apr 4, 2013

The Rise of Chicken Tractor Racing #2 from Cellar Ridge on Vimeo.

(N-R Staff) Organizers of La Casa Verde, an annual celebration of green building in its fourth year, released three videos Monday highlighting the return of the International Chicken Tractor Races of the Nation. You may have seen the chicken tractors downtown McMinnville as "Captain" Zack Geary prepares to defend his crown against perennial challenger Erik "Poppycock" Grimstad and newcome Gretchen "The Big E-D" Phelps. The videos include Winemaker Remy Drabkin, News-Register Publisher Jeb Bladine, City Manager Kent Taylor and more.

Cellar Ridge Construction started the event in the Granary District and it's quickly become a heralded one. It will be held on April 20 this year. The day will begin with an all ages Fun Run/Walk at 10 a.m. Activities throughout the day include a brewing workshop, a building class in which enrollees will build a Tiny Home (a 600-square-foot home on a trailor), a cold frame construction station, pizza from the cob oven that was built at the celebration two years ago and live music by Jackalope Saints and the Hill Dogs. The annual Winemaker's Dinner and Green Achievement awards will cap the day off.
