From our family to yours

This year in the midst the annual purge/binge toy cycle (getting rid of old, forgotten toys soon to be replaced by new, shiny toys received at Christmas) I was reminded of how lucky we are to be in a situation that allows such a cycle. Typically during the purge portion of this cycle, we load up last year’s bounty in the car and drop it off at Goodwill.

While Goodwill is a good business that helps many people, they are still a business and as such in it for a profit.  People pay less for things there than they do in other retail outlets, but they still have to pay.  Wouldn’t it be nice just to eliminate the middle man and get stuff into the hands of people that need it?

Thus the idea of a Christmas Giveaway was born. If you know a family in need this Christmas season, point them in our direction Saturday morning from 9 am to noon.  Some of the News-Register employees have gotten together and donated gently used toys, clothing and household items that will be given away free in our back warehouse.
