Update: Kovoo is back home with his family.
Angelica Negrete called this morning to let us know Kovoo has been found, after word about his loss went out yesterday.
"My son is very happy," she said.
Thanks to everyone who kept an eye out for the little dog.
A lost chihuahua named Kovoo is urgently being sought by his McMinnville owners, after he slipped out a garage door inadvertently left open, and took himself off adventuring.
Kovoo belongs to 13-year-old Carlos Negrete, who has autism, and who finds that his beloved little pet helps keep him relaxed and better able to cope with his daily struggles. His parents are pleading for anyone who finds the dog to let them know.
“The dog is very, very important for the family, because my son is happy,” mother Angelica Negrete said.
Ever since Kovoo was lost last Wednesday Dec. 11, she said, Carlos has been grieving.
Family friend Araceli Flores said the boy has been crying for his dog, and is depressed.
Kovoo was given to Carlos by a teacher a year ago, after his therapist recommended getting the boy a pet, Angelica Negrete said, and the pair have a close bond.
Kovoo is light golden in color, and was last seen wearing a blue collar. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call Negrete at 503-560-5090.
