Shown here is a conceptual plan to expand the Riverbend Landfill by 37 acres, submitted to Yamhill County Monday. The landfill's current footprint is 87 acres. Waste Management was refused three years ago in an effort to expand by 98 acres. The map includes a 25-acre site in the property's southwest quadrant where the company plans to later build a plant designed to process waste into energy pellets that can be used in place of coal in industrial applications.
