A single vehicle crash and law enforcement investigation has closed Lafayette Highway about two miles south of Highway 18, the Oregon Department of Transportation reports.
The Oregon State Police was involved in the pursuit of a vehicle, according to Yamhill Communications Agency radio traffic. Speeds reached about 100 mph. In addition to law enforcement, fire and medical personnel also responded to the scene.
A detour is in place. Northbound motorists will be directed to Stockhoff Road, then to Starr Quarry road, then to the Amity-Dayton Highway. Southbound motorists will be directed to Palmer Creek Road, then to Wallace Road.
The closure could last as late as 10:30 a.m.
Motorists should anticipate delays or plan an alternate route.
