Cooley appointed Sheridan mayor
He replaces Val Adamson
Jan 21, 2014
SHERIDAN — City Council President Harry Cooley was appointed mayor Tuesday night by a unanimous vote of the council.
He was serving as acting mayor after Val Adamson resigned earlier this month. Cooley will complete Adamson's term that expires at the end of this year.
Cooley was elected to the council in November 2006 and re-elected in 2010.
He has served on the planning commission and chaired that body. Cooley also served on the Sheridan School Board and School District Budget Committee.
He is retired from the Federal Correctional Institution.
With Cooley's mayoral appointment, that opens up a position on the council. A decision will be made at the Feb. 3 special meeting how the opening will be filled. Cooley's council term was due to expire at the end of the year.
In other action, Larry McCandless was appointed council president.
