(N-R Staff) Local father-son callers placed first and second, respectively in their divisions, at the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundations 25th Anniversary World Elk Calling Championship on March 2 in Las Vegas. 

Bryan Langley of McMinnville successfully defended his 2012 crown in the professional division. His son, Brayden, finished second in the youth division. The two were featured in this 2009 article in the News-Register.

On Sunday, the McMinnville Basketball Association's 5th grade girls team won the state championship in central Oregon. The Grizzlies, coached by Nile Seibel and Mike Fetch, won a rematch against the undefeated Shockwaves of South Salem in the championship game.
