Wine & Art Auction on tap

The limited seating event costs $125 per person. It features winetasting, hors d’oeuvres, a formal dinner prepared by Catering at its Best and both silent and live auctions.

Gene Zinda, a member of the club and its foundation arm, founded the event. He modeled it around a successful fundraiser in California.

The fundraiser netted a modest $9,000 its first year. But it has raised more than $200,000 in some recent years, and has raised nearly $2 million all told.

“It feels good to me to know you planted that seed and it grew,” Zinda said. “One person can make a difference.”

The live and silent auctions will benefit the Willamette Valley Cancer Foundation, Yamhill Community Action Partnership Food Bank and Rotary Club Foundation.

The auctions will feature an array of items, including four-day VIP passes to the 2014 Phoenix Open golf tournament, a seven-day trip to Cabo San Lucas, a vineyard wine dinner party for up to 20 and many different fine wines.

This year’s presenting artist is Jackie McCartin, who donated her impressionist painting “Harvest Jewels” to the fundraiser. The work will be on display, although it has already been sold.

Presenting sponsors for the event will be Recology Western Oregon and Waste Management Inc., partners in local waste collection and disposal. To make reservations or get more information, visit or call 503-883-0323.
