Volunteers sought for Community Connect
Lay volunteers and service providers are needed to help stage the free event — a one-day resource fair serving low-income and homeless people.
The lineup includes information on housing, education, employment and other community resources, as well as an array of servinces, including dental care, haircuts, bike repair, health screenings and food.
An American Red Cross Blood Drive will be held in conjunction with Community Connect.
In 2012, the event attracted more than 600 participants. They were assisted by nearly 300 volunteers.
Elise Hui, executive director of the Housing Authority of Yamhill County, hopes to see both numbers rise this year.
Those interesting in volunteering are asked to contact Diane Longaker, volunteer coordinator, at email@example.com. Hairdressers, veterinarians and medical providers who are willing to volunteer some of their time are asked to contact Hui at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The event is part of Yamhill County's 10-Year Ending Homelessness Plan.
