Unger leaves Dayton football for Linfield
The Dayton Pirates' ship needs a new captain.
Dayton football coach Brodie Unger resigned his post on March 10 and will join the Linfield football team as an assistant coach, the News-Register has learned.
Unger, a former linebacker for the Wildcats (1999-2003), coached the Pirates to a 23-1 record over two seasons, winning the OSAA Class 3A state championship in 2012. Dayton made the Class 3A state semifinals in 2013 before falling to Nyssa, 19-15, on Nov. 23 in Bend.
It is unclear what duties Unger will have on the Linfield coaching staff. Unger and Wildcats head coach Joseph Smith were unavailable for comment.
