Two injured on Highway 99W

The Oregon State Police gave this account:

About 11:45, a Dodge pickup driven by Joel Stockhoff, 54, of Dayton, stopped in the southbound lane to wait to turn left onto Whiteson Road. It was rear-ended by an Isuzu box truck that Thomas Norton, 52, of Portland, was driving for Northwest Auto Solutions Inc. of Milwaukie.

It took crews from the McMinnville and Amity fire departments about 30 minutes to extricate Norton, who suffered injuries considered serious but not life-threatening. He was was transported to the Oregon Health & Science University in Portland by Life Flight helicopter.

Stockhoff suffered lesser injuries. He was transported by McMinnville Fire Department ambulance to the Willamette Valley Medical Center.

An Oregon Department of Transportation crew rerouted traffic for about an hour while the crash scene was cleared.
