Tower work will diminish signal
Dave Adams, partner with his wife, Norma, said the FCC is requiring repainting of the orange and white striping for visibility. During the work, expected to run Monday through Wednesday, but subject to delay if the weather doesn’t cooperate, the station is required to reduce its normal 1,000-watt signal strength to just 100 watts, he said.
He said the signal figures to remain clear in McMinnville, but lack its normal range. He was philosophical, saying, “It’s just one of those things that has to be taken care of.”
In addition to radio programming, Adams said the station plans to offer streaming Internet service to local school districts. That would allow schools to stream audio of athletic competitions and other activities over the Internet — though not the airwaves — at a cost of $79 a month.
