Tigers earn all-state nods
Seven members of the Yamhill-Carlton softball team received Class 4A all-state honors.
Tigers senior pitcher Molly Smith and junior second baseman DeLaney Ogden were named to the 4A all-state first team.
Junior Emily Drevdahl, a pitcher and first baseman for Y-C, garnered second-team honors as a utility player. Drevdahl was joined on the second team by outfielder Madisyn Babcock.
Catcher McKenzie Magnuson and infielders Ember Armstrong and Taylor Stepp received honorable mention.
Sweet Home’s Katie Virtue was named Player of the Year, and McLoughlin pitcher Collette Roberts was named pitcher of the year. Pioneers coach Nicole Christian took home Coach of the Year honors.
Yamhill-Carlton won the Class 4A Cowapa League and finished with a 23-2 overall record. The Tigers earned the No. 1 seed for the Class 4A state playoffs but fell in the first round to No. 16 Mazama on May 28.
